(STAGE 1 - INTRODUCTION)
Today we planned on going to the Ashcroft Arts centre but unfortunately the snow got in the way of things so it was cancelled. Instead we talked about Workshop Safety for when we start creating our Artefacts. Our Artefact Module is to make a physical object that exists in both time and space.
After Lunch we went to Sarisbury Junior School to talk to our client Mrs Harrington and some pupils.
We were given some ideas of what they would like us to create for them:
- A mosiac of their School logo (Click to see the logo) to go up in Reception so people can see it as they walk into the school. We though of materials we could use. We thought maybe beads or little squares of acryllic.
- They also wanted a Treasure Chest used for School Plays, they wouldn't want anything to be in it but they want it to be very eye catching on the outside with Jewels and they want to have a lock on it. Much like the sorts of antique Treasure Chests you would see in films.
- The last and probably hardest thing to create is a Solar System Model otherwise known as orreries. With the Sun in the middle and planets spinning around it. We thought it could have wood to attach the planets to the sun. This will will used for teachers to teach the students how the planets orbit.
Wednesday 20th January
(STAGE 2 - PREPARATION)
Today i hope to achieve getting our design ideas completed and deciding on a final idea.
I also hope to be able together what materials we will need to get in order to make our mosaic.
We got put into groups, i have been put with Sarah, Kia and Sophie White. We have been given the task of making the Mosaic of the Sarisbury Junior School Logo. We all first made a mind map of our design ideas, and tried to decide what materials we would use for each thing. We had to ask which material would be suitable and which would be safer and more cost efficient (IE1)(CT1). I found a very useful website which has Mosaic Frequently Asked Questions, click here to see the website. We researched on the internet how we could make it and looked at design ideas off the internet (IE2).We thought of having a glass casing so that the Mosaic wouldn't get ruined and bits wouldn't fall off. However, then we thought that because it's being put in reception where people walk in and out of all the time that it's a very easy place to get smashed so we decided against this (IE3)(CT5).
We came up with a lot of design ideas, and mixed them all together to get our final idea(CT3). Most of the ideas were maybe being a little too ambitious (EP1).
We have been looking for materials and our final decision is to use beads, pebbles and crockery in the form our the logo. We came up this design idea from us all doing individual ideas and incorporating them all together (CT3). We looked up how we would stick this all together are we looked up different types of glues. There was PVA but this wouldn't be very strong if people are going to be touching it, we also thought of using a glue gun, but again it would only glue one side, the underside, so it wouldn't stick very well. In the end we found some grout we could use which would cover three sides. We decided this would be best for our idea(IE2)(IE6)(CT1)(TW2)(EP1). To get to our final decision the whole group contributed to a mind map.
<- We split our mind map into 3 sections:
- Colours
- Wooden mount
- Design
For the colours we decided to stick to the School colours of red and green. However, we will ask out client next week on her opinion. We definitely wanted the colours to be bright and eye catching though, so that people can get a feel of the school mood as soon as they walk in.
If you click on the image then you will be able to see all our ideas organised into a mindmap.
We looked on the internet at different shops where we could get these materials and we found that there is a bead shop in Southampton, or we have Hobby craft. On ebay though, you can buy 500 pebbles for £4.95! (IE2) We thought this was the best option to go for, so we would get the pebbles off of Ebay and we now have to find a place to get the beads.
We also want a wooden mount that the mosaic will go on, this will be a wooden square that will will attach the mosaic too so that is is removable. We are also going to put a plaque at the bottom stating our schools name. As the client said she wanted our school to be incorporated into it to show the community. We will have to go into the workshop to see which types of wood would be the best to use, and we will cut it a metre by a metre.
(RL5)My Strength today was my ability to get things organised and start writing on a mindmap which i got everyone involved with (EP5). I got everyone to draw a design idea aswlel menaing that we had plenty of ideas to take bits from and we have a rough outline of the materials we needed.
A wekaness and something that needs to be improved on are my ideas. I couldn't really get my idea across in a picture because i couldn't think of what we could do. So, for the future i need to make sure i am more imaginative with my design ideas and think hard about what materials can be used and what the piece can look like.
A skill i have learnt is how to carry out independent research to get results and to find out exactly what I wanted to know without needing any help.
(STAGE 3 - INVESTIGATION)
Steve Glynn created this 3D, 2kg fish mosaic in 2005 called 'John Dory'. Glass has been one of his favourite materials to work with, as it reflects a light and catches the eye. It’s function and purpose was to inspire others to stand out in the contemporary art business.
It took a dedicated year and a half to finish. Unfortunatley, it is not known how he particularly made this creation but Click Here to see the process Glynn used to create a different mosaic sculpture which he made in the same way of using papier mache on a curve armature. Then being painted white to cover the newspaper. For strengthening the papier mache, the whole thing would be covered in Mod Roc. Ceramic, mirrored tiles, stained glass and broken pottery were the materials used to the actual mosaic pieces. His materials ranged from cheap to expensive. The technology that helped him through the process was a furnace and a laser to cut the glass precisely, without this he could not have finished it with such detail.

This is possibly one of the most famous mosaic images made. It’s called Jesus Christ, Christ Pantokrator, It is unknown to everyone who it was created by. The original image was created in the 4th Century BC. Its function and purpose is to have an image that shows faith, dedication and worship towards God.
It was created by wax encaustic. This is where the artist mixes wax with pigment to attach the colour to the support. The use of undiluted pigments can cause bright and brilliant colours and the translucence of the wax can add a mystical quality to the work. The medium was originally used by the Greeks who brought the method to the Roman empire. Unfortunately it became a lost art, but was revived in the 18th Century.

This is a Mosaic of Berenice the second, She was the Queen and wife of Ptolemy the Third. This particular mosaic was created in 3rd century BC, the signature on it read that it was made by Sophilos who was a greek artist. It was created by Opus Vermecullatum which is the process where the outline of the shapes are drawn by Tessera which is a small cube of a mosaic piece. They did one of more rows of this and it designed to contrast with the dark background so they make it light or off-set. The most common use for this process was for the roman designers who wanted to make the foreground stand out, it was commonly used on the head of a figure. The process spread around the world and was commonly used by the Egyptians for decorations on their tomb, today we use this process of having small cube shapes for mosaics. The purpose of this was to honour the Queen, it can now be found in 'The Greco-roman Museum'.

This is a 3D mosaic created by Sally Kendal in 2006. It is named 'Mirror Manneqiun' and it is made purely owith mirror. The purpose of her mosaics are to:
- Teach an educational art form accessible to all levels of ability.
- Improve the quality of community spaces.
- Create art work which affects people's behaviour and attitude toward their enviroment.
- Raise and promote awareness, participation and ownership of an urban enviroment.
- Give a sense of history and empowerment
- Develop interpersonal and team building skills.
- Produce excellent results which are not only dazzling to the eye but also extremely durable.
The process she used to make this was getting a life size mannewuin as seen in shops and to use mosaic nippers, cutting trays and brushes to cut the mirror pieces and paint them the appropriate colours and she used the nippers to place them inot the grout precisely.

Islamic mosaics were started in the 8th century. They were made with stone, glass and ceramic. Their purpose being to create a geometric and mathematical motif. The process is called zillig where all the individual pieces called furmah are carefully cut from highly glazed tiles. To build up the pattern, thousands of furmah are laid face down on a floor. It has to be precise as the point is that they tesselate. A concrete mix is poured over the back of the furmah creaing a slab. To ensure tesselation it was done by hand. They had no technology in this era so, their only means of cretaing was by hand. In this day and age with our deeloping technologies, machines would be created to lay down the concrete, cut and tesselate for us
Today i hope to carry out a risk assessment and safety lesson to carry out each rule to do with the power tools. We will also go to Sarisbury School to show our client the ideas.
We were all meeting our client today at Sarisbury Junior School after lunch so all day we've been working hard on making a prototype/sample of our mosaic to show her. We got 13 pieces of paper and stuck them together to create a to scale size of our mosaic and started to draw out how it would look. Sophie got up a scale image of the Sarisbury logo and projected it onto a wall then we traced this onto our paper. We all helped to do this. Sarah began to draw where the black pebbles for the writing would go and Kia did the same. Sophie and I coloured in the rest.
As we were starting using the workshop tools today we needed to be aware of and follow safe working practises carefully and efficiently. There are certain rules we had to follow:
- Tie our hair back when working with the power tools to make sure it doesn't get caught in a machine.
- Wear and apron to make sure our clothes don't get ruined
- Have an adult in the room when we're using the power tools incase theres a problem
- With the Scroll Saw we must make sure the uard is infront of the blade
- Always wear goggles to make sure our eyes aren't damaged
- Keep hands well away from the sander and saw
After 3 hours, we went to the tech room and found a bit of scrap wood, Sarah, Sophie and Kia began picking out pieces of acryllic and they would pass them to me and I cut jagged pieces out of them on the scroll saw and then they would place them on the wood to create the mosaic. Mr Coulson cut out an 'S' a 'c' a 'h' and an 'o' to show what the letters would look like with the mosaic pieces. Sophie began to stick all these pieces down with a hot glue gun. Then i had a go aswell.
Our preparation wasn't very good today when making prototypes and drawing our ideas because we wasted a lot of time talking about what we were going to do rather than doing it. We also had very contrasting ideas with Mr Coulson, so we wasted time talking with him and us both getting our ideas across. This is a lesson I have learnt for the future when i have a deadline to meet. We over came our problems however and got everything done in the deadline. (SM5)(EP6)(CT5)(RL4)(RL5).
We went to Sarisbury Junior School with all our ideas and presented them to Mrs Harrington. When we showed ours she was very impressed but asked if the mosaic could just be a block colour and only a mosaic border. Our group smiled and said of course we could. When we got back to school we discussed it and realised that it's not really a mosaic anymore if we don't have a mosaic background, it's more of a 3D collage or picture. Nevertheless, this is our clients choice so we have to make what she wants not what we do. (EP6)(TW2)(TW4)(RL4)(CT6)(CT5)(CT3).
(RL5)Today a strength was the organisation skills, i volunteered to cut out the acryllic fro our protype instead of wasting time by doing the saem as three other people. This meant we got things done quicker than inteded so we were ahead of time.
A weakness and a definate target for improvement is to reach agreements quicker and not keep discussing because it means we keep disagreeing with each other.
A skill i have learnt is my knowledge of safety in the workshop and what certain things can prevent. I have also become more confident in public speaking and answering questions and presenting an idea to a client.
(STAGE 5 - DEVELOPING IDEAS)
Our plan for today is to hopefully cut out a wooden mount from a metre by metre square of MDF. We also need to organise a plan for the next few weeks with a week to week plan of every wednesday. We hope to follow this plan.
Within the last week we have been gathering and ordering materials we need to use for our mosaic. Sarah and I went out to get some beads and cloth for out piece (TW1). We went to Hobby Craft and got 440 black beads beads in a pack which we will use for the writing on our mosaic. We also got 30cm square of black cloth. We later realised we didn't need black cloth, we needed white (IE4)(RL3).
Today, we got the materials together. We talked with Mr Coulson and listened to his ideas on our plan and he gave some constructive criticism for us to improve. we took these comments into consideration and changed some of our ideas but were also independent and kept our original ideas (CT3)(RL4)(TW2)(TW4) (EP1)(EP6).
We decided on having MDF as our wooden mount because it has a smooth texture and is relatively inexpensive, readily available, environmentally friendly(IE5)and is available in big flat sheet boards which most woods aren't. We got our wood cut into 1m by 1m. As we were inexperianced on the more advanced tools we were inable to cut the wood ourselves but we told Mr Bowler and Mr Coulson what we wanted and they cut it for us.
Sophie got the sarisbury logo projected onto a board, we then put the wood up to the projector and drew the outline of the logo so it was to scale. I cut out the ships sails from a hankercheif we had at my house (obviously washed!). and placed them onto our drawing. The whole group helped to put beads onto the wood.
None of these things have been sticked down though we just wanted a general idea of what it would look like. Sophie had gone out and collected some beach pebbles to use as a castle on our mosaic. So she put those on the castle. We then had to change our idea because we realised that it we were having wooden frame to hold the perspex in then it would limit the view if you were looking at the mosaic from a side view. So we moved the design in more so there was a bigger border (RL3)(CT6)(CT5).
Our plan for the next few weeks until the deadline are as follows(SM2)(SM3)(EP3)(RL2):

- 10th February - Paint the board red with paint we will get from B&Q. The picture to the left is the paint we need. We will be at a workshop at Portchester School for most of the day so we will only be able to paint our board
- 23rd February - Cut the letters from the acrylic with the lazer cutter.
- 3rd March - We will be at a workshop at Portchester School for most of the day so we will only be able to paint cut out the letters.
- 10th March - Cut out the images on the logo such as the sun, cut and stick down the ship. Stick on the black beads Sarah and I purchased and the pebbles from ebay with a hot glue gun supplied by Brookfield.Create the wooden frame from MDF wood and the clear perspex to act as the mosaic protector to ensure no damage to the mosaic meaning it can last longer.
- 17th March - We will also cut the mosaic pieces out of white acryllic on the scroll saw to ensure smooth and precise edges. We will be at a workshop at Fareham college for most of the day so we will only be able to cut the mosaic pieces.
- 23rd March (After School) Sand off any uneven edges of the wooden border with the electric sander first then sand paper and Varnish the border to make it look proffesional and appealing to the eye.
- 24th March - Create the roof tiles of the church and stick them on. Finish off any more small imperfections. Hand over our work to Sarisbury Junior School.
(RL5)A strength of mine today was that I carried out my own research at home meaning i could go to HobbyCraft in my own time and invite Sarah for second opinions. This means that instead of wasting time looking for materials we can now be actually doing practical today.
A weakness and target for improvement is that we should have been quicker on laying all the materials in place on the board because we kept changing our ideas so it meant nothing got stuck down today. Although this was good because it meant we got our final design idea we still didn't get to stick anything down so we would have to lay it out again next lesson as well.
A skill i have learn today is to be creative with ideas to make it easier to carry out a task. Like having a projector with an image of the school logo so we can easily put it onto our wood. This meant that the image on our mosaic would be exactly right and the scale would be correct.
(STAGE 6 - PLANNING COMPLETION OF YOUR VISUAL ARTS PIECE)

In the morning we quickly went around B&Q so we could all get a few bits we weren't able to get at the weekend. The four of us went down the paint aisle looking for the appropriate paint, we compared prices and sizes to see which was a better value for money.
Our pan for today is to paint the wood with the red paint we have bought today, and for most of the day we will be in a workshop. After, we worked with Portchester school who are also doing the diploma course and we did a workshop. A woman called Tina worked at Guildford School of Acting came to show us about how a scene can be created with lighting, sound and props. She made us realise how important the set is for a performance. We did an exercise where we were put into groups and we had to create two completely different scenes just by using props, costume, sound and lighting and we needed people in the set but they weren't acting it had to be a still image. We all had to guess what the scene was and it just showed how recognisable a piece of music could be. for example, we had 'Mad World' by Michael Andrews Feat. Gary Jules which is a sad song and we had a couple sat at a table with a champagne glass tipped on it's side and a bouquet of flowers on the floor. The couple just sat there not doing anything yet it still created a scene which interpreted to the audience that they had broken up.
Tina then talked to us about how set designers and stage managers do their job, she taught us about how the set would be made in 1:25 scale so that they could see how everything looks and draft it all out without using too many materials. She showed us how this would be done and had brought one with her with she had made for a previous performance she was involved in.

Once we got back to the school Sarah and I painted our wood base of our mosaic 'Scooter Red' we had a problem that the bristles from the paintbrushes we were using were falling into the wet paint and making the texture very lumpy. To overcome this Sarah and I tried to get the hairs out by using a screwdriver so we could scrape them out. But whenever we would paint over the un painted patch we just scratched off more hairs would fall so in the end we decided to do a thick layer of paint over the wood meaning we just painted over hairs. This created a smoother appearence which would be more appealing to the eye (CT5)(CT6)(EP1)
Within that week however, because we had put such a thick layer of paint on the wooden board the paint seem to have shrunk and created a horrible texture which ruined the whole thing. It was annoying but we had to just overcome it (RL3). We decided that when we next paint the other side we will use a non fallout bristle brush to prevent any more bristles faling onto our paint (CT5)(CT6)(RL5)(SM5).
(RL6)A strength of mine today was my ability to overcome a problem we faced within our piece. An alternative way to getting the brush hair out was used. This shows my ability to cope well when something goes wrong
A weakness and target for improvement however, would be to think things through when making a decision like that because by painting such a thick layer the paint deformed. So in the future, i need to research ideas first.
I have learnt about the stage designing. I found out today, a lot of things i have never heard of before. I learnt about the responsibility and jobs of the stage designers and what other roles there are backstage. really, i only know about the performance side of things and i found out about what happens backstage.
Wednesday 23rd February
(STAGE 7 - COMPLETION OF YOUR VISUAL ARTS FINAL PIECE)

I hope to get all the letters cut out on the lazer cutter today, and because the red board went wrong i will paint an undercoat on it to prepare the wood and prevent that from happening again.
Today we just laid out everything onto our board again and also measured all the letters so we have an accurate scale to program these into the laser cutter to give the acryllic a cleaner cut. Sarah and I went over to the lazer cutte to put all the piece of black acryllic in to cut out the letters with holes big enough for beads. We decided to have the pebbles for the large writing at the top reading 'SARISBURY' and acrylic letters with holes in to place beads in for the rest of the smaller writing to give it more range texture.
We had to prepare the wood for red paint so i painted it with an undercoat from the workshop. This prevents the red paint from seeping into the wood and ruining it.
Wednesday 3rd March
We headed upto Portchester School in the morning for a 'Paper Birds' Workshop which is linked to the show we're seeing tonight at the Ashcroft. The set designer of the show was running the workshop and we all had to tell her one thing we knew about set design. I said that they use foam board with small models of each thing so they can see what the stage will look like. I found this out from the other workshop we had at Portchester. She then explained to us how the set was designed for the show we'll be seeing, it is based around a world in a suitcase. Where you would open one suitcase and a bed would come out or anything could come out really to show where the person is.
We did an excersise where we had to come up with 6 different suitcases we had to make sure we got across an emotion, location and character. This workshop was very complex and long winded. It mad a very good point and was interesting but could have been made a lot shorter with the same effect we got. If we were to do this excersise again i think my group of Sophie White, Sarah and I we could have taken the excersise a bit more seriously (especially Sarah and I) because we were getting a little bit impatient and just rushing our ideas (RL5). I explained everything we had drawn and explained why we did it and why it should be used in a show (TW5)(EP2).
After the workshop we went to the 'Ashcroft Arts Centre' to see the show we did a workshop on it was called 'A Thousand Pieces'. The play was very deep and intense, maybe a little too intense but it was very well put together and had every element of acting skill to make it good but i think the subject of sex trafficking was a bit too intense.
(RL5)A strength of mine today was that I had the confidence to be confident and be the talker in my grouop in the workshop. I took on the job and presented our work to the class because Sophie and Sarah didn't feel comfortable doing it.
A weakness and target for improvement is too take the workshops more seirously though, because yes it may have been a little too long winded but everything being shown to us is important and being shown for us for a reason.
I have learnt how to use the lazer cutter and know no how we would be able to program it myself in the future.
Wednesday 10th March
With our all day practical today we hope to get everything we can done. Because, next week We had an all day practical today which we needed because we haven't had time with all our workshops we've been on. I assigned everyone a role because otherwise we'd be even more behind (TW3)(SM3)(TW5)(EP3) so i told Sophie to cut out the sun for our mosaic with the yellow acrylic. Sarah and I put the pebbles on the wording and Kia stuck on the pebbles for the castle and the boat.
Because we repainted the board we had to draw the outline of the logo again as an outline. before we did anything. So we put the board upto the projector again and traced the logo onto it. After spending so much time in the initial stages of which glue to use we decided to use hot glue gun. We pondered on whether to use pritt stick,PVA or even Grout. But as we researched we found that the hot glue gun was readily available and perfect for the materials we were using (EP1)(CT5).
Before Kia stuck on the boat I had to sand it down with an electric sander, I had never done with before so I was really scared but it meant it was a lot quicker then manually sanding.
All this work which seems like it's not a lot took the whole day so after Sophie had to go home. Me, Kia and Sarah stayed behind afterschool to finish the last bits we had started.
The only problem we occured today was that we had 'Mock Interviews' today which meant we were all in heels and skirts! To overcome this we wore flat shoes and aprons when working with the glue and paint, it wasn't ideal but we had to overcome the problem and it was a safety precaution. (IE1)(CT6)(EP1(SM5)(TW3).
(RL5)A strength of mine today was my confidence with the power tools. When no one else wanted to use the electric sander and said i would do it because it was neeed for our piece or else the border of the mosaic wouldn't have a prefect finish making it look professional.
A weakness and target fro improvement is the restrictions we had with our clothing. Although it wasn't my fault i could have bought a change fo clothes more suitable for the workshop meaning i wouldn't be worryingabout getting my clothes dirty.
i have learnt how to use the electric sander and the different settings you can use. Such as the different roughness of the sand paper attached to the tool.
Wednesday 17th March
The only problem with the glue gun is that it leaves stringy glue everywhere which takes a while to get off, so to overcome this we had to take all the letters of today and redo them and making sure that we glue from the bottom so that there wasn't any glue strings, so Sarah and Kia put the beads into the holes the lazer cutter made through the letters and put the glue gun to bottom, whilst I was took the original letters off and took the beads out(EP1)(IE3)RL3).

We went to Fareham college in the afternoon to do a Spike Theatre Company. we had to create our own play showing our purpose, target audience, stage layout, props etc.. this was good because it allowed us to work in a team. The man who was running it was treating us as if we were in a real life situation trying to sell our show so he was very strict and grilled us so we had an understanding on how the real world works and so we can get used to working, talking and presenting in the real world. We could also ask him questions about his show we saw at the Ashcroft Arts centre called 'Ontop of the World' that he starred in(CT2).
Kia, Sarah and I stayed after school again and started to cut the border of the mosaic out, i measured 1cm in from the border and the writing and measured out where the mosaic pieces had to go. Sarah drew the mosaic shapes on each piece of acrylic and cut them out and and we both laid them out on the board. This took about 2 hours to do because it was so complicated. Once we had done half, Kia and I put the pieces into their place and we pu maskin tape strips over the top to keep them in place. We were all going to come back tommorow to complete it.
(RL5) A strength of mine today was my leadership by taking over doing the mosaic tiles. I recommended Sarah drew the moisaic pieces, Kia cuts the pieces out and I would measure to make sure the sizes are right. This made sure that we all had somehting to do and it would get done quickly and efficeiently. A weakness and target for improvement is to take into consideration what could happen from the decisions we've made. For example, the stringy bits of glue from the glue gun. We had to take them off and stick them on again differently. If we would have realised this earlier this could've been prevented.
I have learnt to taker leadership sometimes when we can't get motivated. This is a good life skill which everyone should know because sometimes a single person does have to take control to get things done.
Thursday 18th March
Today we came back to do more of the mosaic but it was taking longer than we thought it would and the pieces got scrambled up and we couldn't fit them back together, so after discussing Mr Coulson came up with the idea to just paint the mosaic pieces, Mr coulson helped us to decide this because we required very occasional support and guidance. At first Sarah and I were against it because it looks better with acryllic, but it is just taking too long so we'll have to paint it. Me and Kia started getting the paintbrushes and painting the pieces and it took us about half an hour to do the whole board which was a big timesaver! (TW1)(SM3)(SM4)(SM6)(SM5)(EP4)(EP6)(EP1)(TW6)(RL1)(RL4)(CT4)(CT6)(IE3)(EP5)
Wednesday 24th March
In the morning we checked our worked. A few of the beads fell off so we had to stick them back on. Sarah, Kia and I also had to do the roof tiles for the Church. We originally planned for it to be made from small slate tiles which I looked for on ebay and found some which a specifically designed for dolls houses so they're very small but they only came in pack of 500 and we needed 20(IE2)(SM3). To overcome this we used small pieces of thin wood cut into rectangles and overlaid them on top of each other (SM1)(CT6)(CT5). Sarah and I painted the wood rectangles with some brown paint from the workshop and Kia stuck them on with the hot glue gun. We put the perspex screen on to protect it from any damage and we were finally finished! We were able to work consistently within given time constraints and we could now go and show our client our work.

We all got it in the minibus and got all our artefacts in there and went to Sarisbury Junior School and presented our work to our client Mrs Harrington and a class of children ranging from 7 - 11 year olds(RL6). We had a slideshow of a few of the pictures of our process of making it. We let them ask us questions and there were a lot of them to be answered! We took turns to answer them. This helped us gain more confidence much in the same way the Spike Theatre company did, it helped us to answer questions and not be embarrassed or scared to talk to people you don't know. Later in the evening we went to the Aspex Art Gallery to see Brune Parks artefact module which was being held in an exhibit at the Art Gallery.
(RL5)A strength of mine today was being able to get on with the roof tiles and finding an alternative to the roof tiles we couldn't get. It meant we could find a material which was still suitable and could quickly stick them on with a hot glue gun.
A weakness and target for improvement is to try to get Sophie involved with the last piece of work. I could have tried ot motivate her because she was wokring on her process portfolio when she could've been helping us because i think she felt as if she wasn't needed any longer.
i have learnt many skills in this artefact module, including how to use different power tools and how to use them safely and correctly. i have taken in skills on being an Independent Enquirer, a Creative Thinker, a Reflective Learner, a Team Worker, a Self Manager and an Effective Participator.
